heey heyy hey want to kill a baby?? [28 Feb 2006|06:44pm]

[ mood | always fucking bored! ]

Hell0, I'm starving. . . not hungry, but deprived of musical interaction. I need to collaborate with people or I go crazy. . . I'm into punk, surf, jazz, metal, basically. . if oyu can play a chord or strike a beat i can play to it. If anyone is interested in playing, I work most nights but i'm free during the days in the afternoons. I have my own equipment and I know how to use it. I've been playing for seven years and I can keep up with most anything, although, I do think I should be a considerably better musician after seven years but sometimes I get distracted. I'm 20 yrs old and I am crazier than a lightbulb in a glass of water. hit me up if you want to jam.

I play throuhg a 66' model Kustom charger, which I believe was a bass amp originally, but I play guitar through it anyway. I play a danelectro baritone, which serves my purpose whilst my regular guitar is being worked on.

Support the Knox music scene! [31 Oct 2005|03:06pm]

The Post-modern tourists will be rockin the barroom at Goodfellas Bar, that's at 2234 Keith Ave in Knoxville, this saturday (nov 5th)! Show starts at 9pm,and I don't think there's a cover charge. Come early and have a beer with the band!

For those unfamiliar/uninitiated, the PMT combines numerous styles and instruments to form an "extracurricular utopian rock experience with a twist of lime juice". What does that mean? Who knows these days, but hey, we've got an electric banjo, and bass master Jesse brings the funk, so that's gotta be worth something, yeah?

For our local 'tourists: we will be trying out a few new originals for the first time on Saturday. Be there to hear them first!

See you there!
PMT James

up-and-coming fanzine [22 Jun 2005|02:31pm]

two music- and culture-obsessed teens in the knoxville area are trying to put together a completely DIY fanzine, to be called Feedback. it's to focus on local bands, songwriters, and singers, but will also be involved with artists, businesses, and any other random stuff we think will make an interesting read.

we're low on cash and are looking for help from local musicians for demos, interviews, info on concerts to attend, and any other info/help you can afford. we're looking forward to interviewing and getting to listen to local bands and bands playing in our local venues.

if you feel you can be any help with anything, or you want us to cover your band/music/enterprise in our first issue, please comment!

Hey, I hate to just come into this thing and promote, but this is really important.

go to http://www.thehvscene.com/studiowars/ and choose Paris Ave and click vote!!

The winner gets to record a full length for free. Anyone who votes I will give a cookie.

And then, anyone that puts that link in their LJ, aim profile, away message, or anything else that can get it out to people and tell them to do the same, you will be even more extra awesome and I will buy you a taco or something.

Apologies once again, but this is super important for us.

Searching for independent/unsigned music [28 Aug 2004|03:51pm]

I am currently involved with the production of an independent film, Mixtape.

We are still searching for music from independent or unsigned artists to be featured in the film. We are not looking for a particular genre or style of music, but we are looking for music that has a certain emotional poignancy or gives us a certain vibe. (Some examples of this would be Radiohead, the Cure, Ani Difranco, Smashing Pumpkins, the Smiths, Damien Rice, Melissa Etheridge, Fiona Apple, etc.) (If you don't sound like any of these bands, but feel your music still might be good for this project, please go ahead and submit it anyway. We are looking for all kinds of music.)

If you live in the Atlanta area or know anyone who does that might be interested, we are also searching for actors/musicians who would like to be in the film. Auditions will be held in October. For more information, please check out the website http://mixtapefilm.livejournal.com

If you are interested or know someone who would be, please leave a comment or e-mail me at scrawford85@bellsouth.net.
